MODExl
Welcome to the MODExl Program Site
MODExl is a program funded by the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), Higher Education Challenge. The program is designed to prepare the next generation of professionals in the areas of food, agriculture, health, and natural resources. A selected number of students are recruited from the following three institutions: Arizona State University (ASU), New Mexico State University (NMSU), and the Recinto Universitario de Mayaguez-University of Puerto Rico (UPR-RUM). Participants build analytical and global competencies through a multidisciplinary online training enhanced with experiential learning activities including a summer research fieldtrip to Puerto Rico and a post-internship workshop. The course includes a few synchronous video conference meetings for all participants to interact before the fieldtrip. The course’s activities prepare students for the field trip. The fieldtrip focuses on the sustainability of coffee value chains — from Puerto Rico farms to coffee cups.
